Can You Say White Trash Fireworks, Kids?!?

A two liter bottle of Diet Pepsi = $1.29

One roll of Mentos = $0.99

A White Trash Fireworks display = PRICELESS

Well, as parties go, the Fourth of July Bash at my house seems to have gone OK!  We had enough food to feed a small army and the above entertainment was...well...entertaining!

Saint EB answered my frantic call early this morning and rushed to my house to help set up and cook.  I was, needless to say, a bit "overwhelmed" already by 8:00AM!  I had trouble sleeping last night and had developed a bit of a backache...she helped to keep me on track as I stressed over various tasks for the day.

We had what my family of origin would call a typical "White Trash" meal planned.  (Actually my family didn't even know we were white trash growing up, but that's an entirely different story.)  We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, made Midwest potato salad, baked beans, chips, an assortment of dips, pickles, and ice cream sundaes for dessert...a meal that would put hair on a bald man's head!  It was a pleasant party.

We haven't had rain here in Seattle for what seems weeks, and low and behold, guess what fell from the sky tonight?  No, it wasn't money...it was RAIN!  But being true Seattlites, we just moved the party indoors and continued on as if the thunderstorm outside was also part of the plan.

Then, someone got the bright idea to try our luck at Mentos + pop...I'm sure you've seen the Internet clip of the two dudes firing off an explosion of soda in the air and making fountains out of two liter jugs of diet coke?  Well, if not, you should...it's quite a display!  Anyway, my group of Master's prepared coworkers decided we should fire up some pop bottles...after all, fireworks that explode are illegal in the city limits.  It's amazing what will entertain highly educated people...

My house is quiet now, the dishes are done, and I'm getting ready to head to bed soon.  My belly is full as is my heart.  I truly LOVE these people...weirdos that they are!  Spending time with friends is the only way to fully enjoy any celebration...it's just "priceless"...

You know, I had been thinking of you for the past few days and wanting to email you regarding the above party.  I was really hoping it went well and that you didn't get too stressed out.  For some reason, as prepared as I might be, having a party always stresses me out!

I'm so glad that you had a nice time and I sooo wish I had been able to partake in your menu.  My favorite items!  I haven't had home made potato salad all summer!

You saw my white trash fireworks adventure.  I'm still not 'allowed' to talk about it in front of family.....ahhhh....some 'wounds' never heal!  lol

~~hugs~~
